Man facing local charges in connection with chase that began in Chattooga County

A Lafayette, Georgia man is in the Floyd County Jail on charges related to a police pursuit that occurred back on June 22.

According to an arrest warrant, 27-year old Wyatt Keith Stanfield led Chattooga Counties Deputies and Summerville Police on a chase that made its way into Floyd County on Highway 27 North.

A Georgia Department of Natural Resources Ranger joined the chase in Floyd County as did a Georgia State Trooper.

Speeds reached in excess of 108 miles per hour before Stanfield lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to turn onto Highway 156.

He fled on foot after crashing his vehicle but was tased by the trooper and taken into custody.

Stanfield, who has been held in Chattooga County on aggravated assault charges since the incident, is charged in Floyd County with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, obstruction of officers, and speeding.
