Man charged with theft

A Cave Spring man was jailed Tuesday on charges of theft by taking and theft by deception.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 33-year old Justin Lamar Penny took radios, fans, welding torches, and other equipment valued at $1,500 from International Paper.

He also stole two Motorola radios valued at under $1,000 and a Harris utility radio valued at $5,000 from the Cave Spring Fire Department and a circular saw from another man.

He then pawned the items and was paid $6,800 over the course of a year for the stolen items.
