FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS

A destructive new social media challenge prompts a warning from the Floyd County School System.

It’s called the “devious lick challenge” and it’s going around on TikTok.

This TikTok “challenge” encourages students to damage or steal things from their local schools.

The damage in the Floyd school system has ranged from teachers’ personal belongings being stolen to urinals being torn off the walls.

Rick Flanigen, Chief Safety and Security Officer for Floyd County is reminding everyone that there is zero-tolerance for willfully damaging school property.

Any student who is caught committing, participating, recording, and/or posting videos of the act can receive up to 5 days of out of school suspension as well as being subject to criminal charges and restitution.

All Floyd County middle and high schools will offer a $100 cash reward to any student providing information to their administration leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of the offending parties.
