On Thursday morning the Georgia Bureau of Investigation released the following statement regarding the search for missing woman, Monisha Sharae Leath:
“GBI agents have charged Joseph Leroy Jones, age 30, with murder, aggravated assault by strangulation, and aggravated stalking in connection to Monisha Leath’s death.
She was reported missing on February 24th, and the Cedartown Police Department asked the GBI to assist with the investigation. Her body has not been recovered.
Jones was taken into custody on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Thomson, GA on unrelated charges. He was subsequently taken to the DeKalb County Jail where he remains in custody.”
Monisha Sharae Leath was last seen near the Polk and Floyd County lines on Thursday, February 24th.
