ADAIRSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Tuesday at around 5:30 a.m., the Adairsville P.D. received a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a vehicle containing a juvenile who had escaped from a detention facility in Nashville Tn.

According to information received by officers, a male juvenile was being transported to a local hospital in Nashville due to an apparent illness.

Upon arriving at the hospital, a female suspect apparently pulled up to the ambulance, displayed a firearm to the Ambulance staff, and the male juvenile jumped into the vehicle with her and they sped away.

As informational updates were put out to surrounding agencies, Adairsville Police Department officers set up and watched I-75 southbound in an attempt to locate the vehicle the subjects were fleeing in. A short time later the vehicle, a 2020 Nissan Altima with a Tennessee tag matching the lookout was spotted, in the still-dark hours of the morning.

Adairsville Officers followed the vehicle down Interstate 75 at a safe distance and notified dispatch of their location and speed while requesting backup officers to assist with the traffic stop.

A short time later the Adairsville Police Department along with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol conducted a felony stop of the vehicle around mile marker 291 on Interstate 75 southbound.

Ms. Tunisia Leenae Carey, age 22, of Springfield Tn. was taken into custody along with the escaped juvenile. A loaded handgun was found in the vehicle inside of a purse on the back seat. Criminal charges in the state of Georgia will be handled by the Bartow County Sheriff’s office.
