One person is dead following a head-on collision on Highway 27 North near Highway 140 Friday morning.
The wreck occurred at around 9:33 a.m. and involved a Ford Escape and a Hyundai Genesis.
The driver of the Escape, 63-year-old Lou Anne Loggins of Summerville, died at the scene.
The driver of the Genesis and a passenger in that vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Sgt. Christ Fincher with the Floyd County Police Department told the Rome News-Tribune that the investigation into the wreck is continuing and charges are pending.
