Last week, the Rome City School Board unanimously approved hiring Dr. Eric Holland as the school system’s next superintendent.
Dr. Holland officially started his new job on Friday.
He wrote a letter, detailing how he plans to lead Rome City Schools, which you can read below:
Dear Rome City Schools’ faculty and staff, students, parents, and stakeholders,
My name is Dr. Eric L. Holland. I am not only filled with energy, excitement, and enthusiasm but elated to serve as your new Superintendent of Rome City Schools.
Teachers and support staff are the heart of our system. It is vital that I love, lead, and listen to you. With you, we will continue to strive for excellence in everything we do.
I am very excited that we will soon be working alongside each other! I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you and sharing entry and transitional plans with our team.
To the parents and students at Rome City Schools, I want to assure you that I will work to provide the best education and learning environment possible for your children. As you have heard me say before, it takes all of us to achieve the mission of Rome City Schools.
As an educator for over 20 years, I truly value the programs and services in place. I am committed to current and future students having opportunities to explore their interests and find their true passions. Also, my long-term goal and plan will be centered around reimagining Rome City Schools’ educational experience for students, staff, stakeholders, and the school system.
While serving as your Superintendent, I plan to be accessible to all stakeholders and maintain an open-door communication practice. My first day as Superintendent is September 3rd, and I encourage and welcome any questions, comments or concerns you may have about our schools and can be reached directly at [email protected].
This is an exciting time for Rome City Schools! I am looking forward to the years ahead!
