Taylorsville man accused of impersonating a police officer

A Taylorsville man is facing multiple charges in Floyd County including impersonating a police officer.

According to Floyd County Jail records and arrest warrants:

33-year-old Joshua Allen Moates was seen looking through the windows and trying to pry open the door to a home on East Fourth Avenue in Rome.

When confronted, Moates said he was a federal agent before fleeing the area, running a red light at Turner McCall Boulevard and Hicks Drive.

He then led police on a chase that traveled 15 and a half miles.

Moates is also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, loitering or prowling, criminal trespass, reckless driving, and running a red light.

Cartersville man accused of soliciting a “minor”

A Cartersville man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly asking someone he thought was a minor to meet for sex.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Justin Alan Carte engaged in graphic online conversations with the person before asking to meet.

When he was arrested, Carte was in possession of a firearm.

He is charged with criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, electronic enticement of a child, sexual exploitation of children, obscene internet contact with a child, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Rome man charged with criminal attempt to commit child molestation

A 44-year-old Rome man was jailed Wednesday on charges of criminal attempt to commit child molestation, electronic enticement of a child, and obscene internet contact with a child.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Markus Demon Watkins contacted someone he believed to be under the age of 16 online and engaged in sexually graphic conversations before traveling to meet the person for sex.

During his arrest, Watkins was found with marijuana, resulting in additional charges of possession of less than an ounce and possession with the intent to distribute.

Woman charged with false imprisonment

A 49-year-old Rome woman was arrested following an incident on Dodd Boulevard Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Krissy Diane Harden locked a man outside of his own apartment and also used her body to keep a woman in the apartment from opening the door for the police.

Harden is charged with criminal trespass and false imprisonment.

Man charged with fleeing from police

A 20-year-old Rome man is been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement following his arrest Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Tahiri Durand Tolbert also ran a stop sign and drove recklessly in an area known for high foot traffic on East 17th Street and Maple Avenue while going 45 to 50 miles per hour.

Tolbert is also charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, running a stop sign, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Report: Lawrenceville tried to fight Floyd County officers

A Lawrenceville man has been arrested in connection with an incident on Mar. 26 on Cedartown Highway in which he allegedly tried to fight with Floyd County Police officers.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

29-year-old Brian Jordan Lee Allen attempted to punch one officer in the face.

Allen is charged with felony and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement and simple assault.

Man charged with possession of meth and firearm

A 38-year-old Rome man is facing drugs and weapons charges following his arrest at his Morrison Campground Road home Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Johnny Brent Law was found with over an ounce of meth along with a digital scale and a shotgun. He also had a substance resembling meth.

Law is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a counterfeit substance, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
