Aggravated assault, and battery charges filed against 19-year-old

A 19-year-old has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.

According to the warrant:

Dalton Zane Hutchens Jr. struck the female victim and then proceeded to straddle the victim while she was flat on her back.

He then put his hands around her throat in an attempt to strangle her.

The incident occurred on April 17 at a location on Second Street.

Hutchens was also charged with battery and simple battery.

Man facing burglary charge

A Lindale man has been arrested in the burglary of a home in Silver Creek back on April 6.

According to the arrest warrant:

31-year-old Dallas Michael Holt entered a residence on Pleasant Valley Road by kicking in the door.

Holt is charged with 1st-degree burglary, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and a probation violation.

Report: Man went onto Armuchee Elementary School property, entered school bus

A homeless man is accused of trespassing on school property.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

43-year-old Timothy Gene Estes went onto the property of Armuchee Elementary School on Highway 140 and then entered a school bus.

The incident occurred between midnight and 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

Estes is charged with criminal trespass and entering an auto.

Man accused of driving under the influence with child in vehicle, then fighting with police

A man who was allegedly driving under the influence with a four-year-old child in the vehicle is also accused of fighting with police during a traffic stop on Reservoir Street at Ross Street Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

43-year-old Lavonus Marquis Allen resisted five officers and then ripped the plastic cage out of a patrol car.

Allen is charged with five counts of felony obstruction of officers, two counts of interference with government property, DUI, endangering a child while driving under the influence, open container, driving without insurance, and driving a vehicle with suspended registration.

Another arrest made in theft of excavator

A second arrest has been made in connection with the theft of a Kubota excavator valued at $28,000 from the Home Depot on Hicks Drive in Rome.

According to the arrest warrants:

24-year-old Myron Marcus Woods of Grayson, Georgia rented the equipment back on Feb. 16.

The excavator was sold and then later recovered by police on a used car lot in White County, Tennessee.

Woods is charged with theft by taking and theft by conversion.

25-year-old Deja Latyce Favors of Griffin, Georgia was arrested earlier this month on the same charges.

Report; Jail inmate found with weapon

An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is facing a felony charge for reportedly possessing a shank.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

24-year-old Hunter Chase Hammitt was found with the weapon on Friday of last week.

He is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates.

Man accused of taking woman’s phone as she tried to call 911

A 52-year-old Rome man was arrested early Monday on charges of criminal trespass, obstructing a person from making a 911 call, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Carl Lee William Daniels damaged a mirror belonging to the victim, then went into the woman’s dresser and took a firearm, and took the victim’s cell phone as she tried to call 911.

The incident occurred at Daniels’ residence on Pinehurst Drive.

Forgery charges filed against Hampton man

A man from Hampton, Georgia was booked into the Floyd County Jail late last week on a couple of warrants charging him with felony 3rd-degree forgery.

According to the warrants:

30-year-old Matthew Ben Warner Jr. cashed or deposited two checks belonging to a Rome woman into his own account.

One check was for $4,600 and the other was for $3,940.

The crimes date back to May of last year, according to the warrants.

Adairsville man facing fentanyl possession charges

A traffic stop for speeding in a construction zone, and  DUI late last week on Highway 140 at Rush Chapel Road also resulted in drug charges for a 44-year-old Adairsville man.,

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Corey Dewayne Patterson was charged with possession of controlled substances after suspected fentanyl was found during a search of his vehicle.

Syringes and cotton balls were also found in the vehicle.

Patterson is also charged with driving without a license and is also wanted in Gordon County for theft by receiving stolen property.

Man charged with obstruction, meth possession

A Rome man was charged with possession of methamphetamine late last week after he reportedly ran from police on Callier Springs Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year-old Christopher Scott Rogers also gave police a false name and date of birth before he was searched and found with a baggie of suspected meth.

Rogers is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of officers, a couple of probation violations, and fugitive from justice.

Man accused of damaging government property

A 43-year-old Rome man is facing charges in connection with an incident back on April 3.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Shaun Blake Salmon trespassed on property on Reservoir Street and then threw an object at the window of a government-owned structure, shattering it.

When police pulled over Salmon’s vehicle Saturday on Holder Street at Maple Avenue, it was discovered Salmon’s license has been suspended since 2011.

A search of his vehicle turned up suspected methamphetamine and two smoking devices.

Salmon is charged with criminal trespass, interference with government property, possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and driving with a suspended license.

Threat lands Rome man behind bars

A 32-year-old Rome was arrested Saturday on Orlystes Drive on a felony count of terroristic threats and acts.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Daryl Wayne Stamey Jr. threatened to kill a 53-year-old woman.

The threat was witnessed and corroborated by a family member of Stamey.

Woman facing drug charges dating back to 2019

A 47-year-old Rome woman was jailed Friday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Smoking devices containing methamphetamine, syringes containing meth, and digital scales were found in the Donley Drive home of Amanda Anne Early back on Dec. 29, 2019.

Early is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and fugitive from justice.
