Press Release –
The City of Rome and the Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) have partnered to offer a free film series themed, “Made in Rome.” All films selected for the series feature major scenes filmed in Rome. Prior to each screening, our “Camera Ready Liaison” will share behind-the-scenes stories and talk about the launch of the new local Film Registry for extras and locations.
Movie showtimes are scheduled for 7 pm and include:
- June 22: Remember the Titans, released in 2000, starring Denzel Washington, Kate Bosworth, and Ryan Gosling, rated PG
- June 29: Sweet Home Alabama, released in 2002, starring Reece Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, and Ethan Embry, rated PG-13
- July 20: Black Widow, released in 2021, starring Scarlett Johansson, and David Harbour, rated PG-13.
All films will be shown at the Rome City Auditorium which features a state-of-the-art sound and projection system. Concessions will be available for purchase, including movie treats, popcorn, soda, water, beer, and wine. Concession proceeds will help RIFF present the 2023 Film Festival on November 2-5.
“We know Romans appreciate the opportunity to get out of the heat and enjoy an evening on Broad Street,” said Wendy Reid, City of Rome Facilities Manager who coordinates events for the Rome City Auditorium. “We love the “Made in Rome” theme said Ann Hortman with Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. “The theme showcases the fact that so many film productions are attracted to Rome and Floyd County, plus it will be great to see the films again on the big screen!”
“RIFF continues adding film events throughout the year with great partners like the City,” said Seth Ingram, Creative Director. “This is an opportunity to give back to our wonderful community which always supports the Festival.”
The Rome City Auditorium is located at 601 Broad Street. Parking is located behind the auditorium.
