It’s back to school this morning for students in the Rome City School System.
The Rome City Police Department urges everyone to be mindful of extra traffic, lots of students, big yellow school buses, and especially crossing guards.
Remember the Rome High/Rome Middle School campus on Veterans Memorial Highway and the Main Elementary School zone on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive are equipped with traffic cameras that help enforce speed limits. School speed limits are not just a suggestion.
On two-lane highways that have no barrier between the lanes, vehicles behind the bus must stop when the lights are flashing and the stop sign arm is extended.
Vehicles traveling in the opposite direction must also stop.
