Man facing drugs, firearms charges

A Kingston man was arrested Thursday on Broad Street on charges of possession of controlled substances, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to A Rome Police Department report and Floyd County Jail records:

Rome Police responded to a restaurant in the 200 block of Broad Street in reference to a man who had placed a loaded handgun magazine on a table, made some lewd comments towards staff, and then left.

Officers located 37-year-old Jeremy Lee Honea nearby and found him in possession of an Adderall pill, 10 clonazepam pills, and a buprenorphine pill.

Honea also had a Glock in his waistband.

Two charged with drug possession

Two Rome women were jailed Thursday on multiple drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Barbara Chaska Morris and 39-year-old Jessica Lynn Morgan were found with over an ounce of methamphetamine, more than an ounce of marijuana, and multiple smoking devices at their apartment on Cave Spring Road.

Both were charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

Morris also had fentanyl pills, Adderall pills, and a pistol in addition to having active arrest warrants in Alabama.

She was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of controlled substances, fugitive from justice and a parole violation.

Meanwhile, Morgan was found with over half an ounce of meth once at the jail, resulting in an additional charge of crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs.

Traffic stop leads to fentanyl arrest

A traffic stop on Glendale Road at Benton Drive in Garden Lakes ended with the arrest of a Rome woman on drug charges Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Police stopped a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Karen Ann Chatman for a seat belt violation and for driving while her license was suspended for failure to appear in court.

She was then found in possession of a powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl.

Chatman is charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, and a seat belt violation.

Woman accused of stealing from an elder person

A 54-year-old Armuchee woman is facing charges of theft by taking and exploitation of the elderly following her arrest Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Candice Marie Camp took a garage door opener from a 91-year-old man, causing the victim to worry that Camp was going to return to rob the home or harm him.
