The cleanup from flash flooding in the Calhoun area Tuesday morning continues, as more rain is in the forecast.

In all, around 40 people had to be evacuated from three apartments and the Red Cross set up at an emergency shelter at Heritage Baptist Church.

There was water in homes and partially submerged vehicles on Jolly Road and Red Bud Road.

Flash flooding was also reported on Hill House Drive and at the Calhoun Recreation Department Park which had to be closed to the public Tuesday.

It is estimated that close to nine inches of rain fell during the overnight hours Monday into Tuesday morning.

The Calhoun VFW post on West Line Street was flooded.

If anyone would like to help clean up, they are in need of wet/dry vacuums, blowers, squeegees, and dehumidifiers.

They also need help moving furniture to higher spots in the building.
