A Rome woman is accused of submitting over a million and a half dollars in fraudulent insurance claims.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
54-year-old Denna Rochelle Conaway initiated an accident claim on Oct. 5, 2022, stating that she had fallen while hiking in Arizona. However, Yuma Regional Hospital had no record of Conaway being a patient. She also submitted a fake invoice for $81,233.95 along with a case report and X-ray images, receiving $10,250 from her insurance company.
Then Oct. 15, 2022, she filed a claim stating her son had surgeries from an automobile accident at Baptist Health in Miami, Florida. The claim was for $35,618. However, her son was not found in the hospital’s records as a patient.
Then on Nov. 17, 2022, Conaway submitted an accident claim for surgery at Dignity Health Hospital in Los Angeles, California as the result of an attempted purse snatching. That claim was for $1,440,167. Again, Conaway was not found in the hospital’s system as being a patient.
Conaway is charged with three counts of felony insurance fraud and six counts of 1st-degree forgery.
