Rome Floyd County Development Authority announced today the purchase of approximately 347 acres on Huffaker Road in Rome and Floyd County for the development of a data center campus, creating 150 high-paying new jobs and investing over $1,000,000,000.

The company worked with the Rome Floyd County Development Authority to choose a site, conduct due diligence, and bring the project to closing.

Microsoft develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, consumer electronics,
personal computers, and related services. Microsoft is building a data center in Rome and Floyd County to support the Company’s cloud technologies and Azure business.

“This is a tremendous economic opportunity for our community that will have positive impacts for decades to come,” said Jimmy Byars, Chairman of the Rome Floyd County Development Authority.

Microsoft Azure (“Azure”) is the firm’s global technology infrastructure that consists of two key
components—physical infrastructure and connective network components.

The physical component is comprised of 300+ physical data centers, arranged into regions, and linked by one of the largest interconnected technology networks on the planet.

Microsoft site selectors analyzed various sites across the region and the Country. Following months of due diligence on the Huffaker Road site, they decided that Rome and Floyd County were right for them.

“Rome and Floyd County’s industrial zoning and strong infrastructure led to our decision to locate our
data center campus there. Today’s announcement is just the start of our mutual collaboration and
Microsoft’s long-term commitment to the local community”, said Paul Englis, Director of Community
Engagement.

Microsoft will begin work immediately on the site and is planning to join the corporate community as an
engaging and supportive partner to Rome and Floyd County.
