Today is Election Day and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

In Ward One, incumbents Jim Bojo, Mark Cochran, and Sundai Stevenson are running along with businessman Harry Brock and community activist Charles Love.

In Ward Three, the candidates are incumbents Bonny Askew, Bill Collins, and Craig McDaniel, along with local developer Wayne Robinson.

The top three vote-getters in each ward are elected.

Meanwhile, voters in the city and county will be casting ballots in a special purpose, local option sales tax referendum.

The extension of the extra penny sales tax would go to fund several projects.

The duration of the SPLOST would be expanded from five years to six, with the sixth year being dedicated to transportation projects.
