Calhoun man accused of assaulting woman in Rome

A 69-year-old Calhoun man was arrested Thursday at North Fifth Avenue and West Ninth Street in Rome on charges of aggravated assault and battery.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Frederick Ira Jordan strangled a woman, threatened her with a knife, and punched her in the head.

Jordan also threw the victim against some railing, causing bruising.

He and the victim had been involved in a long-term relationship.

Woman facing aggravated animal cruelty charge

A Garden Lakes woman is facing an aggravated animal cruelty charge following her arrest Thursday.

According to an arrest warrant:

47-year-old Evelyn Michelle Moore neglected to provide food and medical attention for her 5-year-old dog.

The dog was being kept in unsanitary conditions, tethered to a tree at Moore’s Harrison Road home.

Moore told Animal Control that the dog suffers from a disease that makes it difficult to keep any nutrition in his body.

Despite this, the dog has not received medical attention in several years.

Search warrant nets drug arrests

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers executed a search warrant Friday at a home on Roseway Circle and arrested two people on drug charges

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year-old Jarvis Lamar Barrett and 48-year-old April Ann Davis were found with methamphetamine and a smoking device.

Both are charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Warrant: Woman had crack cocaine in her purse

A 34-year-old Dodd Boulevard woman was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant charging her with possession of cocaine.

According to the warrant:

Garnette Rachelle Moore had suspected crack cocaine in her purse at a location on Turner McCall Boulevard.

Moore admitted the purse belonged to her.

Taylorsville woman arrested on meth possession charge

A Taylorsville woman was booked into the Floyd County Thursday on a warrant charging her with possession of methamphetamine.

According to the warrant:

27-year-old Taylor Nicole Jones was in possession of suspected meth at a location on Highway 411 at Nichols Road back on December 8.

Inmate accused of having contraband

An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is facing additional charges of possession of items prohibited for inmates, crossing the guard line at the jail with contraband, and possession of tobacco by an inmate.

According to jail records:

23-year-old Brooke Cheyenne Reynolds recovered a vape, three cigarettes, and a lighter from another person and then crossed the guard line.

Reynolds was initially arrested earlier this month on warrants charging her with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor count of theft by shoplifting.

Reynolds had Xanax hidden in her bra at a location on South Broad Street and East Main Street back on October 11.

On October 20, she took $40 in cosmetics from Dollar General on Shorter Avenue.

She was also charged with obstruction of officers.

As authorities were attempting to arrest January 3 at a location on East 19th Street, she refused to come to the door and hid in a closet.

Woman charged with felony obstruction of officers

What began as a traffic stop for a seat belt violation in South Rome ended with the arrest of a 27-year-old woman on a felony obstruction charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Destinee Tiara Nettles of Rome failed to comply when police told her to step out of the vehicle and she had to be forcefully removed.

She continued to disobey police until she was placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.

The report states that there was a one-year-old child in the vehicle who was not properly restrained, resulting in a child safety seat violation.
