Monday was supposed to be the last day for ice skating at Ridgeferry Park, but the decision has been made to extend operations until the end of the month.
Jim Alred with Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation made the announcement during Tuesday’s First News with Tony McIntosh on WRGA.
“We’ve been having discussions with Atlanta Events Specialists who are our partners in the ice skating,” he said. “They mentioned extending the ice skating for the rest of the month. So, the decision has been made to extend the Rink at Ridgeferry Park through the remainder of January.”
Alred said there have been a number of calls from people saying they have not been able to get out to the rink yet.
“So, the rink is going to be open for the next few weeks, and we are very excited about that,” Alred added. “I think it’s been cool. I’ve been out there ice skating and enjoyed it. I think they’ve done a great job, and it’s been something nice for Rome to be able to have, and for a lot of Rome residents to get out there and do. It’s nice to be able to have that in our backyard.”
