Rome Man Steals car after promising to work on it for victim:

  • A 53-year-old Rome man was arrested on Wednesday on felony theft charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle. According to Floyd County Jail records, Eric Eugene Vaughn of a Willow Road address took a 2017 Lexus 200SX from a victim under the pretense that he provided bodywork services as a business owner. Vaughn additionally accepted $3,000 from the victim via Cashapp for the work he was going to complete on the vehicle. Vaughn never returned the vehicle to the victim, instead using it for his personal use; the vehicle had been in his possession since December 2022. Vaughn is being charged with felony theft by taking, felony theft by deception, and felony theft by conversion. Jail records also indicate that Vaughn committed deposit account fraud after intentionally writing a bad check to a local janitorial business for the amount of $750.

Conyers inmate at Floyd County Jail charged with Drug Conspiracy:

A 34-year-old Conyers inmate at the Floyd County Jail has been charged with conspiring to sneak drugs into the prison. According to Floyd County Jail records, Titus Omar Bryant conspired with three other inmates (back in July of 2021) to have 122.1 grams of marijuana delivered to his assigned work detail location where it was intercepted by prison investigators. Bryant is charged with felony conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act, use of a communication facility in the commission of a felony involving controlled substances, and items prohibited for possession by an inmate.

Drug Bust leads to three arrests:

Three people were arrested in a drug bust on Klassing Street in Rome on Thursday. According to Floyd County Jail records 24-year-old Shuntavious Shermar Clark of Rome, 24-year-old Trinity Lamya James of Cartersville, and 25-year-old Jordahni Rimpel of Rome were arrested after agents with the Rome Floyd Metro Task Force served a warrant and found several bottles of prescription medicine as well as marijuana at the home. All three received multiple drug-related charges including possession of a Schedule III and IV controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
