Report: Man attacked another man at West Rome shopping center
A 71-year-old Rome man is accused of attacking another man outside the Dollar Tree on Redmond Circle in West Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail records and a Rome Police Department report:
Carlton David Jefts Sr. attempted to strike the man with a walking stick.
He then pulled a knife on the victim.
The report states that Jefts had been previously banned from the property.
Jefts is charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass.
Calhoun woman charged with aggravated assault
A 42-year-old Calhoun woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly assaulted a man at her Everett Springs Road home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Amber Maria Baker attempted to strike the victim with a deadly weapon and left a visible scratch on the man’s neck.
The incident occurred in front of two juveniles.
Baker also removed the handcuffs while sitting in the Floyd County Police Department patrol car.
She is charged with aggravated assault, battery, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, and obstruction.
Report: Woman assaulted family member with a cane
A Rome woman was arrested Sunday at her Wilson Avenue home on a felony aggravated assault charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
49-year-old Sandra Denise Green assaulted a family member with a cane and then put the victim in a chokehold.
The victim, who sustained scratches to her neck, was able to break free and run out of the residence.
Two charged following altercation at Days Inn
An Atlanta man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on an aggravated battery charge.
According to jail records:
29-year-old Elvis Quiroz Ramos caused a severe cut to a 26-year-old man’s right lower bicep during a physical altercation at the Days Inn on Turner McCall Boulevard.
The man who sustained the cut was also arrested after he bit Ramos on the stomach, leaving teeth marks.
Ernesto Quiroz Hernandez is charged with battery.
Man accused of stealing firearm from elderly family member
A West Rome man arrested earlier this month is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
34-year-old Stevelle Lavelle Henderson got a ride from a 68-year-old family member on April 6 and then stole a gun from under her seat.
He then sold the firearm for $200.
The gun was later recovered from a local pawn shop.
Henderson is charged with theft by taking, theft by deception, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Woman accused of stealing Chevy, selling it for scrap
A Lindale woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
Kelsey Nicole Akins took a 2022 Chevy Impala and sold is for scrap at a local salvage yard back in December.
She reportedly signed the name of the vehicle’s owner to the bill of sale, resulting in an additional charge of 1st-degree forgery and theft by deception.
The vehicle, valued at $3,000, was sold for $200.
Traffic stop leads to drug charges for local man
A West Rome man is facing drug charges following his arrest Sunday on Turner McCall Boulevard at Hicks Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 26-year old Nicholas Keith Gilmore was stopped for no headlights.
Following a K9 free air sniff with positive indication, a probable cause search yielded suspected cocaine and THC wax.
Gilmore is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
