Man charged with aggravated assault

A 41-year-old Rome man has been charged in an assault that occurred late last week at an apartment on Wilson Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Anthony Rashun McCowan jumped on a woman and struck her in the face.

A juvenile tried to intervene.

McCowan pulled a gun and pistol-whipped the victim, causing the firearm to discharge.

McCowan is charged with aggravated assault, battery, and simple battery.

Man accused of assaulting woman

A Floyd Springs man was recently arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.

According to the warrant:

30-year-old Christopher Avery Jones grabbed a woman around the neck and choked her.

Jones also punched the victim, according to witnesses.

The incident occurred on May 24 on Teat Street in Lindale.

Man arrested for making threat

A Snellville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on felony warrants charging him with terroristic threats and acts.

According to the warrants:

30-year-old Demarte Simeon Ellis went into Jersey Mike’s in Rome and threatened to come back and “shoot the place up” back on May 15.

The threat was overheard by two witnesses.

Report: Man hit mother with a broom handle, violated TPO

A South Rome man was arrested at his Porter Street home on multiple charges Saturday.

According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:

40-year-old Anthony Lovell Brown punched his mother and struck her in the face with a wooden broom handle on May 22.

He is also accused of forcing his way into an apartment on Porter Street, violating a temporary protective order.

Brown is charged with battery, stalking, aggravated stalking, terroristic threats and acts, criminal trespass, felony obstruction of officers, and disorderly conduct.

Woman accused of threatening officer

A woman initially arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and obstruction was additionally charged with threatening law enforcement officers.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

29-year-old Mierica Desionee Ferrell started to cause a scene at a convenience store on Shorter Avenue and Coker Drive after the clerk refused to sell her alcohol.

She refused to leave the store and tried to pull away from officers after she was placed in handcuffs.

While on the way to the jail, she kicked the patrol vehicle door several times and implied that she would come after the officer.

Once at the jail, she then threatened to kill the officer.

She was also found with marijuana.

Ferrell is additionally charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.

Man arrested for cocaine possession following foot chase

A Rome man is facing charges after he reportedly ran from police Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

32-year-old Anthony Lamont Curry was found with crack cocaine, marijuana, and more than $500 in cash when taken into custody in the area of Camp Street and Copeland Street.

He is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and obstruction of officers.

Warrant: Man signed another man’s name to traffic citations

A West Rome man is facing charges of 2nd-degree forgery and giving a false name or date of birth after allegedly signing another person’s name on two traffic citations last week.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

44-year-old Joshua William Garner is also charged with driving with a suspended license, driving while holding a cell phone, not wearing a seatbelt, and driving without his license.

Man charged with meth possession

A man initially arrested for theft by shoplifting at the East Rome Walmart is facing a felony drug charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year old Wesley Eugene Self was found with suspected methamphetamine once at the jail.
