A Rome man died over the weekend from injuries he sustained after being struck by a train.
According to a Rome Police Department report:
Officers responded to the railroad tracks the area of East Sixth Street and Walnut Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
58-year-old Robert Wayne Sullins Jr. was found underneath the train approximately 300 feet west of Maple Avenue.
He was breathing but unresponsive.
Firefighters and EMS began lifesaving measures, and Sullins was transported to the hospital where he died on Saturday.
The circumstances that led to Sullins being struck by the train are unknown.
