A man called police after he found an abandoned firearm in his yard on Garden Lakes Boulevard Tuesday.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

The man said that he was mowing his yard when he accidentally ran over the Smith and Wesson.

The gun, which was in pieces, was turned over to police.
