Report: Man jumped in lake to avoid arrest

A 59-year-old Armuchee man is accused of jumping into a lake to evade arrest late last week.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Police were attempting to arrest Ray Ellis Carver Jr. on Floyd Springs Road for simple battery after he grabbed a woman by her shirt.

Carver is also charged with felony aggravated stalking because he violated a condition of his bond to have no contact with the victim.

He is additionally charged with obstruction for jumping into the lake.

Man accused of choking woman

A Rome man was recently arrested at his Little Texas Valley Road home on charges of aggravated assault, battery, and simple battery.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

50-year-old Brian Russell Pangman put his hands around a woman’s throat and choked her.

He then pushed the victim to the ground causing an injury to her leg.

Man accused of having meth at jail

A Rome man who was reportedly acting unruly on a Rome Transit Department bus is facing additional charges following his arrest on a probation violation.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

61-year-old Paul Elliott Daniel was found with methamphetamine once at the jail.

He was then charged possession of meth and crossing the guard line art the jail with drugs.
