-Floyd County News Release-

The Floyd County Elections Office has successfully completed an audit of all ballots cast in the 2024 General Primary and Nonpartisan Election, for the Sheriff of Floyd County, Clerk of Superior Court, as well as the Democratic District 14 United States House of Representatives.

The Secretary of State selected the Justice Supreme Court of Georgia (to Succeed Andrew A. Pinson) to be audited and selected Floyd County’s Absentee by Mail Batch 4 and our Early Voting Main location.

“We chose to audit an Election Day tabulator for this race, in addition to the two state-mandated tabulators, ensuring each ballot style was included,” said Election Supervisor Akyn Beck.

The process took 14 hours split between two days. Each ballot was examined by a two-person audit team; both verifying the voter’s selection and both tallying the results.

Audit teams are comprised of Floyd County poll workers.

Relatives or poll workers from the same precinct are not allowed to be on the same audit team.

The audit was monitored by several bipartisan observers.

This process is open to the public, however, no members of the public attended.

“I have continued to make decisions to promote transparency and boost voter confidence,” says Beck. “I will continue to conduct a 100% audit and encourage citizens to observe the department and processes. An audit of every ballot is not required by law and few counties conduct a full audit as the process is costly.” Beck adds, “This process would not be possible without our auditors’ attention to detail and passion for our electorate.”

For the 2024 May General Primary and Nonpartisan Election, Floyd County Elections audited nearly 9,000 ballots and three races in full outside of the state mandate.

The results for each tabulator and each race matched 100%.

Zero errors were found with ballot count per tabulator, contest tallying per race, or overall totals and reporting.
