Report: Man tried to coerce victim to change her story so he could avoid prosecution

A Silver Creek man is facing charges of aggravated stalking and influencing a witness.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

40-year old Carland Eugene Johnson violated a conditional family violence order by having contact with the victim on three occasions.

He was also involved in domestic altercations at the time of his conditional bond.

Johnson has been in jail since May 18 after being arrested on an aggravated assault warrant.

During his incarceration, Johnson constantly berated and belittled the victim for her to drop an aggravated assault charge against him and told the woman what to say to the district attorney’s office to avoid prosecution.

Johnson is also charged with theft by taking for allegedly taking an Axis 500 utility vehicle from a yard of Pleasant Valley Road, leaving behind his bicycle.
