WRGA Staff Reports –
If you want to watch elite athletes from around the world compete, downtown Cedartown is the place to be on Tuesday evening.
The Cedartown Wheelchair Athlete 5K, now part of a Triple Crown series according to media liaison Tory Adamson, promises an exciting event.
“We have a 5K race before the Peachtree Road Race on July 4, which is a 10K race. A couple of weeks after that, there will be a 15K race called the Boilermaker in Utica, New York. Many athletes participate in all three races, and last year we officially made it a Triple Crown Series for the first time,” Adamson said.
If you plan to attend the race, be sure to arrive early, as roads in the area will close around 5:45 PM.
“You can park at Peak Forest Park or on one of the side streets and walk over. Bleachers will be available for spectators, and attendance is completely free” Adamson noted.
The event will feature a kids’ fun run at 6:30 PM, followed by food trucks after the wheelchair race.
There will also be an award ceremony for the event and the newly established Hall of Fame.
This marks the 21st year of the Cedartown Wheelchair Athlete 5K, renowned as the fastest 5K in the world.
