The West Central Elementary School zone on Lavender Drive could be the next to see speed enforcement cameras.
On Tuesday, the Rome City School Board gave the go-ahead with the proposal from Rome Police Chief Denise Downer-McKinney.
A recent traffic study showed that 44% of the traffic on Lavender Drive exceeded the speed limit by 10 mph during the morning commute hours.
During the evening commute, 52% of the traffic on Lavender Drive was going 10 mph above the speed limit.
This will be the third city school zone with cameras.
The others are in the Rome High/Rome Middle School zone on Veterans Memorial Highway and on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Main Elementary.
The county has speed detection cameras on Highway 27 North in the Armuchee Elementary School zone.
