Authorities have released the name of a man who was killed in a crash during a pursuit in Gordon County on Monday.
Victor Miles Stevens of Calhoun was pronounced dead after the Chevy Tahoe he was driving crashed after a Gordon County Sheriff’s Deputy performed a PIT maneuver on the Highway 53 Spur.
According to the sheriff’s office, the chase started on Highway 53 when a deputy attempted to stop the Tahoe which was suspected to have been involved in drug activity.
The Tahoe sped off reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.

A fatal wreck occurred in Gordon County on Monday, as reported by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
At 12:07 pm, troopers responded to a crash on GA 53 Spur.
A Gordon County Deputy was pursuing a white Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on GA 53 Spur when a P.I.T maneuver caused the Tahoe to rotate, leave the road, and overturn.
The driver was trapped inside and died from his injuries.
The Gordon County Coroner pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is investigating.
The deceased has not been identified at this time.
