Local and state officials broke ground on a brand new Georgia Department of Driver Services facility on Tuesday.
The 4,057-square-foot building will be located behind the current 1,500-square-foot facility on Martha Berry Highway.
The cost of the new facility is around 3 million dollars, all funded by the state.
Floyd County donated the property back in the 1960s.
Once the new facility is completed next year, the old building will be demolished.
