The Floyd County Commission will hold the second and third public hearings on Tuesday regarding the millage rate for county maintenance and operations, fire, and solid waste.
The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. at the county administration building on East Fourth Avenue.
The commission will also meet at 6 p.m. for the final public hearing, also at the county administration building.
Following that third hearing, the commission is expected to set the tax rate which has been advertised at 9.414 mills, which would be an increase of 0.75 mills, although the board could opt to adopt a lower rate.
A reduction in the millage rate last year along with a one-time increase in the homestead exemption by the state has resulted in Floyd County having a budget deficit of $3.6 million.
