Man charged with hijacking a motor vehicle

An arrest has been made in connection with a carjacking on New Calhoun Highway in Rome back in March of 2022.

According to an arrest warrant:

33-year-old Alex Bernard Joyner of Cartersville forced a woman out of her Chevy Pacifica at gunpoint, telling the victim, “Give me the keys and nothing will happen to you.”

Joyner then crashed the vehicle, damaging it and private property in the Shannon area, before fleeing on foot.

He is charged with robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, theft by taking, terroristic threats and acts, simple assault, pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,  2nd-degree criminal damage to property, failure to maintain a lane, a failure to report an accident resulting in property damage.

Man charged with child molestation

A 40-year-old Cedartown man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on a felony warrant charging him with child molestation.

According to the warrant:

David Edwood Hackney fondled a female under the age of 16 while she was asleep.

The incident occurred on April 5 at a location in Cave Spring.

Man charged in burglary at Suhner Manufacturing

A West Rome man was charged with a reported burglary at Suhner Manufacturing on Anderson Drive back on July 5.

According to the arrest warrants:

44-year-old Clarence Edward Mullins II entered the business and stole a Milwaukee magnetic drill and snack food items totaling more than $3,000.

Mullins also caused around $100 in damage to the door in order to gain entry to the building.

He is charged with 2nd-degree burglary and criminal trespass with damage to property.
