The Floyd County Commission will consider a rezoning request for property which includes the Rome Speedway when it meets Tuesday.
The applicant is seeking to rezone the parcels on Chulio Road and Hillindale Drive from Suburban Residential and Multifamily Residential to Heavy Industrial in order to sell the property for industrial use.
During a planning commission meeting in August, those in favor of the rezoning said it would help bring jobs and revenue to the community.
Those who spoke in opposition cited concerns such as traffic and the impact on property values for nearby residences.
The planning commission voted to recommend denial without prejudice.
Tuesday’s commission meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the county administration building on Fourth Avenue.
During the caucus, which starts at 4 p.m., the commission will get a facilities update and will go into executive session to discuss property acquisition, litigation, and personnel.
