Man charged with felony possession of fentanyl, marijuana

A 26-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

According to the warrant:

Quortavious Shamar Spurgeon was found with fentanyl pills during a traffic stop that was conducted prior to the execution of a search warrant on Decatur Street in February of 2023.

485 grams of marijuana and a digital scale were located in the residence, according to jail records, resulting in additional charges of felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged in Burglary at Foss Manufacturing

An arrest has been made in a burglary at Foss Manufacturing on Kirton Street in West Rome.

According to an arrest warrant:

43-year-old Michael Gregory Cummings entered the building and stole $9,200 worth of equipment between September 5 and September 9.

He also caused more than $10,000 in damage to the wiring of the building.

Cummings is charged with 2nd-degree burglary.
