Woman accused of stabbing man with a folding knife

A West Rome woman was arrested Sunday following a stabbing incident on Fortune Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

51-year-old Seconda Diane Peyton stabbed a man described as her “partner” with a folding knife and screamed “I’ll kill you” while she chased after him.

The victim sustained two stab wounds and scratches to his arms and legs.

Peyton is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and terroristic threats and acts.

18-year-old accused of molesting child

A West Rome teen has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with child molestation and statutory rape.

According to the warrants:

18-year-old Taylon Crawford molested and had sexual intercourse with the victim who was under the age of 12 at the time.

Crawford was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Friday.

He remains jailed without bond.

Norcross man arrested for kidnapping in Rome

A Norcross man is accused of kidnapping a 24-year-old woman at a location on Highway 27 South at Walker Mountain Road late last week.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

23-year-old Stephon Charon also had two firearms as he held the victim against her will.

He is charged with kidnapping and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Alabama man arrested in Rome

A Birmingham, Alabama man was arrested Sunday after allegedly fleeing from police on Alabama Highway near Barker Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A lookout had been issued for a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Colby Scott Hopkins for a crime that had been committed in Alabama.

Hopkins drove at more than 95 miles per hour while fleeing.

He was later located at Elm Street and Shorter Avenue after law enforcement had discontinued the pursuit.

Hopkins was also found with two baggies of methamphetamine.

He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, possession of meth, and reckless driving.

Conyers man arrested in Rome for felony marijuana possession after BOLO issued in Bartow County

A traffic stop on Highway 411 ended with the arrest of a 39-year-old Conyers man.

According to Floyd County Jail records and a Rome Police Department report:

Sheldrick Demond Williams was wanted in connection to an armed robbery in Bartow County and a lookout had been placed on his vehicle.

He was stopped near Dodd Boulevard and more than 66 grams of marijuana was located.

Williams is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Man arrested following car crash

A West Rome man was arrested on drug charges following a car crash Friday on Highway 53 at the connector.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A vehicle driven by 31-year-old Johnathan Nelson Starnes traveled off the roadway and through a grassy median before ending up on the wrong side of the road.

He had a clear bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a black bag of marijuana.

Starnes admitted that he had smoked marijuana before driving.

He is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, DUI, failure to maintain a lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and driving within the median.

LaFayette man arrested on DeSoto Avenue in Rome

A LaFayette man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Friday on multiple charges.

According to jail records:

40-year old James Tavares Mims returned to an address on DeSoto Avenue after being banned from the property.

He stole ten gallons of water from the property’s water system and was found with a small bag of suspected methamphetamine.

As he was being placed in the patrol vehicle, Mims grabbed the bag, threw it on the ground and stomped it.

He is charged with criminal trespass, theft by taking, possession of meth, tampering with evidence, giving a false name or date of birth, and obstruction of officers.

He is also charged with being a fugitive from justice for having a valid warrant in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

Woman arrested on drugs, weapons charges

A woman driving below the speed limit and with a tag light out on North Broad Street and Calhoun Avenue was arrested on drug charges Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

26-year-old Cederica Johnae’ Nabrondia Dorsey had a half-full alcoholic beverage in the center console, a THC vape pen, a small bag of marijuana, and multiple blunts along with additional alcohol containers, both empty and full.

A firearm was also located in the vehicle.

She is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, open container, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Woman charged with meth possession

A Silver Creek woman was arrested Saturday after she was allegedly found with suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

48-year-old Shannon Nicole Hutchens is charged with possession of meth.

She was arrested at Teat Street and Maple Avenue in Lindale.

Man facing felony shoplifting charge

A man is charged with felony theft by shoplifting.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

25-year old Kevin Daniel Gomez of Rome stole more than $895 in merchandise from the West Rome Walmart.
