Rome employment numbers up in August

Rome saw an increase in jobs last month, according to the latest numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor.

The area reported 47,700 jobs in August, up by 200 from 47,500 in July.

Jobs were also up by 1,400 when compared to August of 2023.

First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Floyd County were down by 62% over the month.

There were 487 filed in July, compared to 185 in August.

That is also down by 19% from the 285 claims filed this time last year.
