WRGA afternoon update on Helene

Here is the latest update as of 4:30 PM Wednesday:

The storm is expected to make landfall as a category 2 or 3 Hurricane Thursday night in the panhandle region of Florida.

Northwest Georgia should feel the effects of Hurricane Helene sometime in the early morning hours on Friday.

Those effects will possibly be high wind potential of 40-60 mph gusts , and heavy periods of rain which could cause widespread power outages and road closures.

There is a flood watch for all of north and central Georgia through Friday!

Heavy rainfall with Helene will likely lead to flooding concerns across north and central Georgia and now is the time to be prepared.

Helene will be moving through the area overnight Thursday so please have multiple ways to receive warnings.
