Cartersville man charged with murder

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies and Investigators were dispatched to 129 Chastain Drive, Cartersville, Georgia, about a welfare check/ possible domestic dispute which was later determined to be a homicide investigation.

Deputies initially attempted to contact the residents at the address, but forced entry was made into the residence after no response.

Antonios Pete Kostopoulos, 52, was located inside the residence with suspected blood on his person and he was taken into custody without incident.

Upon clearing the residence, the deceased body of Karina Moreno, 42, was located on the living room floor wrapped in a blanket.

Antonios Peter Kostopoulos is currently being held in the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center without bond on the charges of Murder (F) (Family Violence Act), Aggravated Assault-Strangulation (F), Aggravated Assault (F) (2 counts), Aggravated Battery (F), False Imprisonment (F), Kidnapping (F), Concealing Death of Another (F), and Tampering with Evidence (F).

Sheriff Millsap says the investigation is still ongoing and no further arrests are expected.
