In-person advance voting underway

Early voting for the November 5 General Election is underway.

Voters registered in Floyd County can cast ballots in advance at the elections office at 18 East 12th Street in Rome, the Anthony Recreation Center at 2901 Garden Lakes Boulevard in Garden Lakes, and the Thornton Recreation Center at 102 North Floyd Park in Armuchee.

Hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. weekdays.

Saturday voting will be on October 19 and October 26 from 89 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the elections office only.

Sunday voting will be on October 27 from 1 until 5 p.m. Again, that will be at the elections office only.

On the first day of in-person advance voting, 2,680 Floyd County residents voted.

1,215 ballots were cast at the elections center, 948 at the Anthony Center, and 517 at the Thornton Center.

In Polk County, the Rockmart precinct is at 604 Goodyear Avenue while the Cedartown precinct is at 108 Prior Street.

Advance voting this week in Bartow County is at the Bartow Elections Office at 1300 Joe Frank Harris Parkway and at the Cartersville Civic Center at 435 West Main Street.

Chattooga County residents can vote at the registrar’s office at 10017 Commerce Street in Summerville.

In addition to the presidential contest, there are contested races for Congress and State House on the ballot, along with a constitutional amendment that would limit assessment increases on homesteaded property to no more than 3 percent annually, and allow local governments to implement a sales tax of up to one penny to offset a portion of property taxes.
