Man charged with child cruelty

A Rome man is accused of biting a teenager during a family altercation on East Drive on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

29-year-old Ismael Ambriz Guzman bit the 15-year-old victim on the knee, causing the skin to break and bleeding.

Guzman also damaged the door frame of the residence.

The altercation occurred in the presence of two juveniles.

Guzman is charged with 1st-degree cruelty to children, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, criminal trespass with damage to property, and battery.

Warrant: Man agreed to pay minor for sex act

A Rome man has been arrested on a felony count of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

According to an arrest warrant:

39-year-old Johnny Meral Garrett III agreed to pay a minor for a sex act.

The incident date is listed as between January 1 and May 15 of this year.

Woman charged with burglary, other offenses

A 39-year-old Kingston woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with 1st-degree burglary.

According to the warrant:

Heather Denise Banks entered a residence on Dublin Circle on October 17.

The basement door was opened and it appeared as though Banks was trying to steal copper.

Jail records also state that the home had been burnt and no one was supposed to be inside.

Banks is charged also charged with theft by taking, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, criminal trespass, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

She is the second person to be arrested in the alleged burglary.

43-year-old Byron Brent Keeney was arrested earlier this week.

Teen arrested for stolen gun

A Rome teen was arrested during a traffic stop on Riverbend Drive behind Kroger Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

17-year-old Keshawn Cornelius Jackson was found with a stolen firearm, a small amount of marijuana and a packet containing THC, which was over the legal limit.

He is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, underage possession of a firearm, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

Two charged with meth possession

A Rome woman and a Cartersville man were arrested on drug charges Wednesday following an alleged shoplifting incident at Dollar General on Cave Spring Road at Six Mile.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

42-year-old Angela Gabrielle Isola took a bottle of brake fluid from the store by concealing it in her bag.

Once at the jail, a meth pipe was found in her bra.

A search of the vehicle turned up a case with several syringes containing suspected methamphetamine.

She is charged with theft by shoplifting, possession of meth, and possession of unlawful items by an inmate.

Meanwhile, 62-year old Loyal Lee Miller is charged with possession of meth.
