Thursday is Halloween and the annual Downtown Rome Trick-or-Treat is from 3 until 5 p.m.

According to Sammi Spangler, marketing coordinator for Downtown Rome, Broad Street businesses will set up booths giving away candy to children 12 and under.

“Some of them were going to have some games and some different things that they just want to do,” she said. It’s an easy way for them to kind of just put their face to the community. Obviously, they can meet the family and the kids and they can kind of give out whatever they want to, besides the candy. I know some of them will give out little like magnets or cozies. They have their business same on them, so it’s kind of helpful for them to get their brand out, and just like I said, make face with the community.”

The fun will continue at the DeSoto Theatre.

“That evening, right after trick-or-treating, at 5:15, we have partnered with the Rome International Film Festival to show “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown,” Spangler said. It is going to be a free film for everyone to come see at the De Soto. So, right after you get all your trick-or-treating done, you can do that.”

Just around the corner, Rome-Floyd County 911 and local law enforcement agencies will be hosting Sweets Not Streets from 3 until 5:30 p.m. at the joint law enforcement center.

Love Street, Fannin Street, Craven Street, and Broad Street in Cave Spring will be closed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. for trick-or-treating. Alabama Street will remain open.
