Arrest made in stabbing death on Maple Avenue

An arrest has been made in the murder of an East Rome man whose body was found outside of the Sunoco on Maple Avenue on October 27.

According to arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Andre Lorenzo Dupree stabbed 31-year-old Charvish Darnell Dargin in the chest with a knife and took the victim’s cell phone.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

Police were dispatched to the scene after a passerby called 911 after seeing Dargin on the concrete in the parking lot beside the store.

It was apparent he had lost a massive amount of blood.

Paramedics arrived and determined that Dargin was already dead.

Jail records state the victim’s cell phone was located at the home of Dupree’s grandfather on Brown Street.

Dupree is charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, armed robbery, and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

He is also being held on a probation violation.
