Man charged with aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery

A 39-year-old Rome man is accused of sexual battery against a woman as she slept at his Morton Bend Road home over the weekend.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Joseph Russell Fountain and the victim then got into a fight in which Fountain choked the woman, leaving visible redness.

He also punched the victim repeatedly in the face.

The altercation was witnessed by two children.

Fountain is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery, battery, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Report: Man threw cat, damaged home

A 45-year-old Shannon man was arrested Sunday at his Bells Ferry Road home on charges of cruelty to animals and criminal trespass with damage to property.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Josh Matthew Shelly threw a cat, broke a window, and dented the front door by hitting it with a flashlight.

Woman charged with criminal damage to property, simple battery

A Rome woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly struck a vehicle with a folding chair, causing damage to the hood and windshield on Frances Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

42-year-old Tashauna Lapael Austin also hit a man in the face, giving him a bloody nose.

She is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and simple battery.

Report: Man had meth on school property

A Silver Creek man was arrested Friday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

57-year-old Jeffrey Lee Ely was found with methamphetamine on the property of Pepperell High School during a consent search.
