Charges continue to pile up for homeless man

A homeless man already in jail on multiple charges has now been charged in a burglary that occurred on Northridge Court on November 15.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

30-year-old Gary Dalton Morgan stole four firearms during the burglary, including a sawed-off shotgun that he was found in possession of during his initial arrest on Redmond Circle on November 19, in which he also admitted to swallowing methamphetamine.

Another man arrested with Morgan at that time, 39-year-old Benjamin Caleb Waits, is also charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and other charges.

Morgan was also previously charged with snatching a wallet from a 72-year-old man on November 1 on Rosalyn Court.

He also broke into a home on Morrison Campground Road on November 7.

Morgan is also accused of stealing a 2019 White Dodge RAM truck and being in possession of a stolen Mercedes and a stolen Ford F-150.

Man accused of stealing, abandoning truck

A Lindale man was arrested Monday on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking.

According to the warrant:

47-year-old Andrew Dan Smith, of a Maple Avenue address, went onto the lot of AAA Transmission on DeSoto Avenue and stole a 2018 Chevy Silverado.

The theft occurred on May 20 and Smith was still in possession of the truck when he fled from police on May 30, and abandoned the vehicle on Kerce Road in Kingston.

Four arrested on meth possession charges

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers arrested four people at a residence on Chambers Street in North Rome on Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Investigators found suspected methamphetamine and glass smoking devices during the execution of a search warrant.

61-year-old Lori Ann Wilenius, 55-year-old Jimmy Howell Waters Jr., 54-year-old Gordon Lee Graves Jr., and 60-year-old William David Welch Jr. are all charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Welch is additionally charged with tampering with evidence for flushing meth down a toilet.
