The Rome City School System’s proposed 2025-2026 school calendar was placed on First Reading Tuesday.
However, there are likely to be some changes regarding teacher planning days made before the final adoption in January.
“Some of the teachers had some concerns about the amount of days for pre-planning,” said Rome City School Superintendent Eric Holland. “So, we want to look at those and bring this back in January to approve with revisions.”
The first day of school will be on August 1, 2025, and the last day will be on May 20, 2026.
Fall break will be October 13-17.
Schools will be closed for the week of Thanksgiving.
Winter Break is December 22-January 2
Spring Break is April 6-10.
Students will also be off for Labor Day in September, MLK Day in January, and President’s Day in February.
There are also flexible learning days and independent learning days built into the calendar.
