Stone Mountain man arrested in Rome for forgery
A Stone Mountain man was booked into the Floyd County Jail late last week on a 3rd-degree forgery charge.
According to jail records:
31-year-old Demarcus Jamal Florence was in possession of a forged check worth $42,000 at a location on Martha Berry Boulevard.
Man accused of stealing items from a vehicle
A Dalton man faces charges following his arrest on Turner Bend Road in Coosa.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old William Thomas Love gained access to a 1996 GMC van on December 7 on Haywood Valley Road in Armuchee.
It was believed he was about to steal from the vehicle but he ran away when police arrived.
Love is charged with entering an auto, criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor, obstruction of officers, and a parole violation.
Cedartown man facing drug charges
A Cedartown man was recently arrested on drug charges at a location on North Fifth Avenue in Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
24-year-old Denise William Chastain was found with two small bags containing a substance he admitted was methamphetamine and two large bags of suspected marijuana.
Police also found a handgun that had been reported stolen and a digital scale.
Love is charged with possession meth, felony possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of drug-related objects.
Prison inmate accused of having controlled substance
A man from Cleveland, Tennessee is accused of having a controlled substance while an inmate at the Floyd County Prison back in October.
According to an arrest warrant:
During a pat down, 33-year-old John Ray Brown acted suspiciously and refused to cooperate.
He was restrained and taken for a strip search where several sheets of folded paper were located.
GBI analysis found the paper contained a substance commonly found in synthetic marijuana.
Brown is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, and possession of items prohibited for inmates.
