The Georgia gas price average increased slightly at the pumps compared to a week ago.
Monday’s average price of $2.94 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline is a penny more than a week ago, 1 cent more than a month ago, but 8 cents less than last year. It costs drivers an average price of $44.10 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians continue to pay almost $2.00 less to fill up at the pump than a year ago.
“Crude oil prices have not seen a significant change this week. Therefore, Georgia pump prices remain steady for the most part,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “However, there is an impending concern that tariffs may cause an increase in gas prices across the country. Right now, it is just too early to predict.”
Local averages on Monday were $2.91 in Floyd County, $2.90 in Bartow County, $2.84 in Gordon County, $2.87 in Chattooga County, and $2.94 in Polk County.
Nationally, gas prices dip, and then tick up again amid tariff concerns.
Since last Monday, amid the threat of tariffs, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 4 cents to $3.13. According to Energy Information Administration (EIA) data, gasoline demand increased from 8.30 million barrels a day last week to 8.32. Total domestic gasoline supply rose from 248.9 million barrels to 251.1, while gasoline production decreased, averaging 9.2 million barrels daily.
