Two charged with child cruelty
A West Rome couple was arrested at their Smith Road home on charges of 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year old Christopher James Mantooth and 36-year old Jessica Marie Mantooth allowed a child to live in unsanitary and unhealthy conditions.
There was trash in the home with flies and gnats, holes in the floor and a toilet that had been broken for some time.
Teen charged in theft of gun
A Rome teen is facing charges after he reportedly discharged a firearm last week.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year old Kaylin Jamerious Williams took the Glock valued at $1,000 from a residence in East 12th Street and then fired the weapon in the direction of the victim at the intersection of 12th and Crane Street.
Williams is charged with aggravated assault, theft by taking, and discharge of a firearm near a public street.
Man charged with felony shoplifting
A Cedartown man was booked into the Floyd County Jail late last week on a felony warrant charging him with theft by shoplifting.
According to the warrant:
40-year old Charles Keith Shaw pushed a grocery cart filled with $714 in merchandise out of the West Rome Walmart on February 17.
When confronted by an employee, Shaw ran, leaving behind the merchandise.
He then got into a pickup truck and drove to the East Rome Walmart.
