Man accused of choking woman

A 24-year-old Rome man was arrested Saturday on a felony aggravated assault charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Tykevion Zykail Zenae Lawrence choked the victim to the point where she was gasping for air.

The victim also sustained marks on her neck.

A small amount of marijuana was also located in the room that Lawrence was staying in on Ash Street.

He is also charged with battery and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Warrant: Man pinched child’s ears

A Rome man is facing charges of 1st and 3rd-degree cruelty to children in connection with an incident on Cordle Drive back on January 11.

According to the arrest warrants:

38-year-old David Dewayne Bowers Jr. pinched both ears of a 3-year-old child, causing pain and bruising.

The incident was witnessed by a 5-year-old child.

Oklahoma man charged with theft by deception

A man from Jay, Oklahoma is facing a felony theft by deception charge in Floyd County.

According to an arrest warrant:

32-year-old Zachary Hunter White purchased a vehicle from a Lindale resident on March 3 and stated he was going to Atlanta to get the money to pay for it.

However, he never returned with the money and kept the vehicle, which was valued at more than $5,000.

White was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Saturday.

Homeless man accused of stealing bank card

A homeless man was jailed Saturday on charges of financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

54-year-old Arnold Ray Brown Jr. took a woman’s bank card without permission on February 21 and then made a $263 withdrawal from an ATM on Alabama Highway.

Report: Rydal man charged following struggle with police

A Bartow County man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Saturday on two counts of felony obstruction.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

22-year-old Tony Nathaniel Jacobs of Rydal was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana in a brown box at a location on Chubb Road in Lindale.

He reached behind his back despite instructions from police, and then resisted, resulting in a struggle.

Woman facing DUI, drug charges

A Kennesaw woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail on drug charges after she was found passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle at a red light on Martha Berry Boulevard.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

31-year-old Amy Louise Bishop was arrested after police found crack cocaine, suspected heroin and two Xanax Tablets during a search of the vehicle.

Bishop is charged with possession of Schedule I and Schedule IV controlled substances, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of drug-related objects, and DUI.

Woman charged with theft by receiving a motor vehicle

A Coosa woman was jailed over the weekend after she was reportedly found with a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

47-year-old Shannon Angela Knight was arrested on Brown Street at Maple Avenue on a felony count of theft by receiving stolen property.
