Man charged with felony shoplifting
A Gaylesville, Alabama man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony theft by shoplifting charge.
According to jail records and a Rome Police Department report:
58-year old Roger Bryon Patty attempted to steal 65 items, including towels, steaks, and pellet gun ammo, from the West Rome Walmart.
He was caught shortly after pushing his shopping cart past all points of sale.
The value of the items was listed at over $919.
Police investigate theft of firearm, body cam
A firearm and other items were reported stolen from the residence of a law enforcement officer on Leafmore Road in Rome on Monday.
According to the report:
The victim told officers that he was getting ready to go to work at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office when he noticed his back-up weapon, a Glock 43, was missing, along with a box of 9mm ammo.
Other items that were missing included a department-issued body camera, a pair of tennis shoes, and $150 in cash.
The victim said he had been out of town for a couple of days and called the police when he first noticed the items were missing.
Burglary was reported on Cave Spring Street
The Rome Police Department is investigating the theft of a 5500-watt generator from a home on Cave Spring Street earlier this week.
According to the report:
The house was being remodeled, and someone attempted to pry open the front door and then entered the residence by forcing open a window.
Electrical wiring, tools, and other items had been moved to a location close to the back door, indicating the burglar intended to come back.
In addition to the generator, valued at $800, a $200 couch was stolen from the front porch the week before.
